Send messages to a group

This is the primary page for sending messages to one or more groups. It is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED that you send a test message prior to sending the message to groups.

CLICK 'Send messages to a group'

Sender ID when set allows for 14 numbers or 11 alpha characters, (27214097815 or MyCompany). Sender ID becomes available after credits have been purchased. To request a Sender ID, go to 'User Account' and click 'Change Sender ID'

'Saved messages' are created by typing in the 'Message' box and CLICKING 'Save'. This will clear the 'Message' box.

CLICK 'down arrow' to select a previously saved message. To choose a different saved message just re-select the saved message desired.

CLICK 'Delete Msg' to permanently remove the currently displayed message from the phonebook.

To send a new message type up to 160 characters it in the 'Message' box. You do not need to click 'Save' unless you want to send it again.

CLICK 'Add Name' to insert the text from the first name field in the phonebook into the message. For each number the message is sent to, the system will insert the corresponding first name. (This feature is also know as SMS Merge, personalize, personalization.)

CLICK 'Add Surname' to insert the text from the surname field in the phonebook into the message. For each number the message is sent to, the system will insert the corresponding surname.

(Please note: The first name field is counted as 11 characters and the surname is counted as 9 characters. These character counts are defaults and may be shorter or longer then the actual information. If the above feature causes the message to exceed 160 characters then the names will be truncated as follows: The surname will be truncated first. Once the surname is completely truncated, the first name will be truncated.)

The 'Characters left' box will show the number of characters, up to 160, that can be added to the message. The 'Characters left' display will automatically update as the message is typed to show how many characters can still be added.

'Use tagline discount' when checked will add BULKSMS's URL to your message. This will provide the current discount displayed. Note that this will also reduce the number of characters available for the message.

'Send as Unicode' is checked when sending messages of non-European language. This allows for a maximum SMS of 70 characters.

Select the prefered 'Route' for the delivery of this message.

When checked, 'Schedule this message?' will deliver the message to the recipient at the date and time selected.

'Scheduled time' becomes available after the above option is checked. Enter the date and time for the Scheduled message to be delivered, or click 'Calender' to select the date.

'Scheduling Description' enables a description to be attached to the message so that it can be recognised later.

'Recipient groups' show all the current groups you have entered into the system. CHECK 'groups' to which the message will be sent.

CLICK 'Confirm cost' to see current credits and the cost to send the message. This page has a 'Send now' button.

CLICK 'Send now' to send the message. If there are errors, correct them as instructed. If there are no errors you will see 'Your message has been sent.'

The maximum number of recipients that can be sent to from this page is 20,000.
